NY Times Calls Thornwood An 'Unpretentious Place' Where Neighbors Know One Another

A Westchester hamlet has been recognized as an “unpretentious place” with middle-class roots in a real estate piece by the New York Times.

The story also highlights the notion that the 1.1-mile municipality of Thornwood in the Town of Mount Pleasant offers more affordable living options than its pricier Westchester County counterparts.

With 4,000 residents, Thornwood  is expected to undergo numerous improvements later this spring and over the next few years in an effort to “revitalize” several Mount Pleasant hamlets, according to Mount Pleasant supervisor Carl Fulgenzi. Goals include making structural improvements to commercial areas and improving walkability by adding more sidewalks.

“You are going to see some major changes within the next five years,” Fulgenzi told the Times.
